SimHALO Beta

Emergency medicine team simulation

Lead the resus.
Out loud.

SimHALO puts you in charge of a virtual resuscitation team. You speak your orders; the team answers, acts and pushes back in real time. Afterwards you get a marked debrief.

RESUS 1 54-year-old male Listening
  1. You

“Carlos, full set of obs please. Dan, can you draw up the drugs we talked about?”

  2. Dan · Drugs

“Drawing up now — I’ll read them back when they’re ready.”

  3. Lizzie · Team leader nurse

“Before he arrives, can we run through who’s doing what?”

01 — How a session works

You are the medical team leader.

Each case runs for roughly 25 minutes. There's no menu of answers to tap: you think, you say it, the team does it.

  1. 1

    Pick a case

Choose a scenario from the Sims tab and start it in Car Mode: the whole case runs by voice, hands-free.

  2. 2

    Brief and take handover

Prepare your team and allocate roles, then take the paramedic's handover as the patient arrives, just as you would on a shift.

  3. 3

    Lead by voice

Speak your orders. Name the team member, say the drug and dose, ask for the result. They read back, act, and the patient responds. Escalate to the specialist on the phone when you need to.

  4. 4

    Debrief

When the case closes you get a marked debrief covering your clinical decisions, communication and leadership, with what to do differently next time.

02 — For beta testers

Thanks for testing. Here's the deal.

What to expect

  • This is an early build. Expect rough edges: a missed word, a slow reply, a mark that looks wrong.
  • The beta opens in testing windows (usually a week). During a window you can start one new case a day. If you stop partway, resume it from the Home screen.
  • You'll need to create an account and allow microphone and speech recognition access. Voice is the whole point.
  • Run a case, read the debrief, and tap Feedback to tell us what you noticed.
  • Car Mode is hands-free and voice only.

How to give feedback

Tap Give feedback on the home screen or the debrief screen and just say what happened. It's voice, like everything else.

The most useful things to tell us: anything that crashed, audio that cut out or overlapped, a mark that looks wrong, or a team member who misheard you. Say which case and roughly when.

On iPhone you can also take a screenshot and share it to TestFlight.

Privacy

Every patient and case in SimHALO is fictional. Never enter or mention real patient information.

Your voice is processed so the team can understand you, and your sim transcripts and scores are stored against your account. Full details are in the privacy policy.

SimHALO is an education tool. It is not a medical device and not for real clinical decisions.

04 — FAQ

Questions

Who is SimHALO for?

Clinicians who lead, or will lead, resuscitations: emergency registrars and consultants, critical care and senior ED nurses, and anyone who runs the room.

Who built it?

An emergency physician working in regional NSW, Australia, who wanted a way to practise leading a resus without needing a sim lab and a dozen colleagues.

Do I have to talk?

Yes — voice is the whole point. SimHALO runs by voice in Car Mode: you speak, the team answers.

Is any real patient data involved?

No. All patients and cases are fictional. Please don't mention real patients while you play.

When can I play?

During beta testing windows. We email everyone on the list before each window opens. Within a window you get one new case a day, and you can pause or leave a case and pick it up again later the same day.

Does it work offline?

No. You need an internet connection during a case, because the team's responses come from our servers.

Why does iPhone need TestFlight?

TestFlight is Apple's official app for beta software. Install it from the App Store, then open the SimHALO beta link. Beta builds expire after 90 days and TestFlight will offer updates as we release them.

Android says the app is from an unknown source.

The Android beta is installed directly rather than through the Play Store, so Android asks you to allow installs from your browser. Allow it for this one install, then you can switch it off again.

Does it cost anything? Will it count for CPD?

The beta is free to test. Pricing after the beta, and CPD recognition, will be confirmed before launch.
